About Bikepark Knigsberg

Situated in Hollenstein an der Ybbs in the Mostviertel region of Lower Austria, Bikepark Knigsberg is a compact but highly versatile mountain biking destination that caters to riders of all experience levels. Surrounded by the forested hills of the Ybbstal Alps, the park combines flowing freeride trails, technical downhill tracks, beginner-friendly practice areas, and modern infrastructure into an excellent riding experience. With its lift-assisted access, family-friendly atmosphere, and natural alpine setting, Bikepark Knigsberg has become one of eastern Austria's most popular mountain biking destinations. Originally opened in 2016, the bike park was designed to appeal to everyone from complete beginners to experienced downhill riders. A unique feature is its adapted surface lift, which allows riders to be transported uphill with their bikes quickly and efficiently. Before tackling the mountain, beginners can even practice using the lift at a dedicated training station near the base, making the park especially welcoming for first-time visitors. The trail network currently consists of three main trails with approximately 190 meters of vertical descent, together with a pump track, technical skills area, and practice zone. Although relatively compact compared to some of Austria's larger alpine bike parks, the carefully designed trails offer an impressive variety of riding styles and technical features. The Freeride Trail is the park's signature attraction. Stretching for approximately 2.5 to 2.7 kilometers, it offers a smooth, flowing descent filled with berms, rollers, tabletop jumps, North Shore elements, wall rides, step-ups, step-downs, and drops. One of the trail's biggest advantages is that nearly all advanced obstacles include ride-around options, allowing beginners and intermediate riders to enjoy the trail while giving experienced riders the opportunity to tackle larger features. This progression-friendly design makes the Freeride Trail enjoyable for a wide range of abilities. For riders seeking a more natural experience, the Single Trail follows the mountain through forest terrain with flowing corners, roots, rocks, and natural surfaces. It provides a good balance between technical riding and enjoyable flow, making it particularly popular with trail and enduro riders who prefer less machine-built terrain. The trail can easily be combined with the Freeride Trail for longer and more varied descents. Advanced riders can test their skills on the dedicated Downhill Trail, which features steeper gradients, loose forest soil, rocky sections, exposed roots, and technical corners. While considerably more demanding than the freeride line, it remains accessible to confident intermediate riders who approach the terrain at a controlled pace. The combination of natural features and technical terrain gives the downhill course an authentic alpine character. One of Bikepark Knigsberg's greatest strengths is its focus on progression. The Technical Trail, designed for children, beginners, and riders developing their skills, introduces features such as small drops, balance elements, and controlled obstacles in a safe environment. Nearby, the Pump Track allows riders to practice pumping, cornering, and maintaining momentum without pedaling. These facilities make the park particularly attractive for families, junior riders, and anyone looking to improve their technique before heading onto the main trails. The trail builders have made excellent use of the surrounding terrain. Forested slopes, natural contours, and carefully integrated wooden features create trails that feel exciting while blending naturally into the alpine landscape. Throughout the ride, visitors enjoy beautiful views across the Ybbstal Valley and the rolling mountains of Lower Austria, adding scenic value to every descent. Trail maintenance is consistently excellent. Features are regularly rebuilt, berms remain smooth, and wooden structures are carefully inspected throughout the riding season. The combination of professional trail construction and ongoing maintenance ensures predictable riding conditions while preserving the park's reputation for safety and quality. Facilities at the base area are equally impressive. Visitors have access to bike rentals, a service workshop, showers, parking, and a bike shop, while the nearby Gasthof Jagersberger serves traditional Austrian cuisine and regional specialties. These amenities make it easy to spend an entire day riding without needing to leave the resort. The riding season typically runs from spring through autumn, with lift operations depending on weather conditions. Thanks to its relatively low elevation and well-maintained trail surfaces, Bikepark Knigsberg offers a long riding season and attracts riders from Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Styria, and Vienna looking for an accessible weekend destination. Whether you're learning your first berms, practicing jumps on a flowing freeride trail, or tackling technical downhill terrain, Bikepark Knigsberg delivers an enjoyable alpine riding experience. Its beginner-friendly progression, modern facilities, excellent maintenance, and scenic location make it one of Austria's best small-to-medium-sized bike parks and a fantastic destination for riders looking to improve their skills while enjoying the beauty of the Ybbstal Alps.
