About Bikepark Schladming

Located in the heart of the Schladming-Dachstein region of Styria, Austria, Bikepark Schladming is one of Europe's most iconic lift-served mountain biking destinations. Built on the slopes of Planai Mountain, the park combines world-class downhill racing, flowing jump trails, beginner-friendly lines, and excellent facilities into an unforgettable alpine riding experience. With 42 kilometers of professionally built trails, a modern 10-passenger gondola, and a reputation as the home of Austria's most legendary World Cup downhill course, Bikepark Schladming attracts riders from around the world every summer. Since opening in 2004, the bike park has grown into one of Austria's flagship mountain biking destinations. It has hosted numerous UCI Mountain Bike World Cup races, where some of the world's best downhill riders have competed on the famous Pro Downhill course. Despite its racing heritage, the park offers trails for every ability level, making it equally popular with beginners, families, trail riders, and experienced gravity enthusiasts. Beginners are welcomed with excellent learning facilities. The dedicated Bike Area features easy practice trails, gentle rollers, berms, and a conveyor lift, providing the perfect environment to develop basic downhill skills before progressing onto the mountain. Children and first-time bike park visitors can safely build confidence with coaching sessions and rental equipment available nearby. Once riders are comfortable, the Peak Flowline becomes the perfect next step. Stretching approximately 7.7 kilometers from the upper gondola station toward the valley, it offers one of the longest flow trails in Austria. Smooth berms, rollers, small jumps, and sweeping corners create an enjoyable descent that remains fun for beginners while offering enough speed and rhythm to keep experienced riders entertained. The trail showcases stunning alpine scenery as it winds through forests and open mountain meadows. Intermediate riders have several excellent options. The Rookie Downhill introduces steeper gradients, tighter turns, and medium-sized jumps, providing an ideal progression toward more technical terrain. Riders looking for airtime can continue onto the famous 99 Jumpline, where perfectly shaped tabletops, berms, and rollers deliver a fast, flowing ride. At the bottom, the Monster Jumpline offers larger jumps for advanced riders wanting to improve their freestyle skills. Experienced mountain bikers are drawn to the legendary Pro Downhill course. Measuring approximately 2.2 kilometers with nearly 470 meters of vertical descent, this black-rated trail features steep rock gardens, technical roots, challenging drops, high-speed sections, and demanding line choices. Known as one of Austria's toughest downhill tracks, it has challenged countless elite racers and remains a bucket-list ride for gravity enthusiasts. Another highlight is the Jack Lumber Trail, a short but highly technical North Shore-style route featuring elevated wooden features, exposed roots, narrow bridges, and precise technical riding. Although relatively brief, it provides one of the park's most demanding and unique riding experiences for skilled riders. One of Bikepark Schladming's biggest advantages is its modern infrastructure. The high-capacity Planai gondola quickly transports riders and bikes to the upper mountain, allowing for multiple laps throughout the day with minimal waiting. The park also features bike rentals, repair services, coaching, restaurants, bike-friendly accommodation, and convenient parking directly at the base station. The surrounding alpine landscape makes every ride memorable. Trails descend through dense forests, open alpine meadows, and rocky mountain terrain while offering spectacular views of the Dachstein massif and the Enns Valley. During summer, colorful wildflowers and traditional mountain huts add to the atmosphere, making Schladming just as attractive for sightseeing as it is for riding. Trail maintenance is exceptional, with every line receiving regular grooming throughout the season. Berms remain smooth, jumps are professionally shaped, drainage systems keep the trails in excellent condition, and clear trail signage makes navigation simple for first-time visitors. Continuous investment has allowed the park to expand its trail network while maintaining its reputation as one of Europe's highest-quality bike parks. The riding season typically runs from May through early November, depending on weather conditions. Throughout the summer, Bikepark Schladming hosts races, coaching camps, festivals, and community events that attract riders from across Europe. Many visitors combine Schladming with nearby destinations such as Leogang, Saalbach, and Reiteralm, creating an unforgettable multi-day mountain biking trip through Austria's famous alpine bike region. Whether you're taking your first lift-served mountain bike ride, progressing on flowing jump lines, or tackling one of Europe's most famous downhill race tracks, Bikepark Schladming offers an outstanding experience. Its world-class trails, modern infrastructure, spectacular alpine scenery, and rich racing history have firmly established it as one of the premier mountain biking destinations in the Alps.
