About Blackmountain

Located in Elstra in the beautiful West Lusatia (Westlausitz) region of Saxony, Germany, Black Mountain Bikepark has rapidly become one of the country's most exciting gravity riding destinations. Built on the slopes of the Schwarzenberg, which rises to 413 meters, the park proves that world-class mountain biking is possible even outside the Alps. Since opening, Black Mountain has attracted thousands of riders each season from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Poland thanks to its outstanding trail quality, friendly atmosphere, and strong focus on progression. The park is designed to accommodate riders of all experience levels. Whether you're visiting your first bike park or looking for technical downhill lines packed with jumps and drops, Black Mountain offers a trail that matches your ability. One of its greatest strengths is the carefully planned progression between trails, allowing riders to gradually improve their skills while enjoying every run. Unlike many larger resorts that can feel intimidating for beginners, Black Mountain maintains a welcoming atmosphere where families, children, and experienced gravity riders all share the mountain. Access to the trails is provided by a surface lift specially adapted for mountain bikes. Riders and bikes are transported quickly to the summit, making it possible to complete numerous downhill laps throughout the day without long climbs. The efficient uplift system maximizes riding time while creating a relaxed environment where visitors can spend the entire day exploring every trail in the park. The relatively compact mountain allows for quick turnarounds, making the park especially popular for weekend trips and skills training. The bike park currently features five purpose-built downhill trails, each offering a completely different riding experience. Together they provide an excellent mix of flow, technical terrain, jumps, roots, rocks, and freeride features that appeal to every style of mountain biker. In addition, visitors have access to a modern asphalt pump track, children's facilities, and a dedicated bike school. Beginners are immediately drawn to the Flowline, the park's easiest and longest trail. Measuring approximately 1,500 meters with around 110 meters of vertical descent, the Flowline features wide berms, smooth rollers, flowing corners, and gentle gradients that allow new riders to build confidence while learning proper braking, cornering, and body positioning. Every feature has been designed to maintain continuous flow while remaining approachable for less experienced riders. Despite its beginner-friendly character, the trail remains enjoyable even for advanced cyclists thanks to its excellent rhythm and speed. Intermediate riders have several exciting options as they progress through the park. The Parkline delivers a fast and technical riding experience with flowing berms, jumps, root sections, and rocky terrain. Riders looking for greater airtime can continue onto the impressive Jumpline, where perfectly shaped tabletops, drops, berms, and rhythm sections encourage smooth jumping and continuous speed. Both trails reward riders who maintain momentum while offering enough technical variety to remain interesting throughout the descent. Experienced gravity riders naturally gravitate toward the park's more demanding trails. The Pro-Line is designed specifically for advanced riders seeking larger jumps, drops, doubles, and gap features. The trail emphasizes speed, precision, and commitment while maintaining the smooth flow that characterizes the entire bike park. Nearby, the Freeride Trail offers a different style of riding, combining natural roots, rocks, technical corners, and fast forest sections into an authentic downhill experience that rewards careful line choice and confident bike handling. One of Black Mountain Bikepark's defining characteristics is the exceptional quality of its trail construction. Every berm, landing, drainage system, and jump has been professionally shaped to provide predictable handling and consistent riding conditions. Dedicated trail crews continuously maintain the network throughout the season, ensuring that every trail remains safe, enjoyable, and true to its intended riding style. This commitment to quality has helped establish Black Mountain as one of Germany's best-maintained regional bike parks. The park also places a strong emphasis on rider progression. At the base area, visitors will find a professionally built asphalt pump track, which remains open throughout the year. Riders of all ages use the pump track to improve balance, cornering, pumping technique, and bike control before heading onto the larger downhill trails. The park also operates a bike school, where experienced instructors offer coaching sessions covering everything from beginner fundamentals to advanced jumping and technical riding skills. Families are particularly well catered for at Black Mountain. In addition to beginner-friendly trails, the park includes a playground, picnic areas, covered seating, and a welcoming bistro serving meals, snacks, and drinks throughout the day. This family-oriented approach has helped the bike park develop a relaxed atmosphere where riders and non-riders alike can enjoy the surrounding natural environment. The scenery surrounding the park adds greatly to the overall experience. The trails descend through peaceful forests on the northeastern slopes of the Schwarzenberg, offering fresh mountain air and beautiful woodland landscapes. Although the mountain is modest in elevation compared with the Alps, the clever trail design maximizes every meter of vertical descent, producing surprisingly long and enjoyable runs packed with features from top to bottom. Facilities at Black Mountain Bikepark continue to expand each season. Visitors have access to modern downhill bike rentals, protective equipment, a repair service, bike wash facilities, ample parking, and online bike reservations. The friendly staff and active local riding community contribute to the welcoming atmosphere that has become one of the park's defining qualities. Throughout the season, Black Mountain hosts coaching camps, community ride days, demo events, and downhill competitions that attract riders from across Central Europe. The riding season typically runs from April through November, depending on weather conditions. During this period, the park welcomes more than 6,000 visitors each year, a number that continues to grow as its reputation spreads among gravity riders. Thanks to its combination of professionally built trails, excellent progression, reliable lift system, and family-friendly atmosphere, Black Mountain Bikepark has established itself as one of Germany's premier mountain biking destinations. Whether you're learning your first berms, perfecting jump technique, or tackling fast technical downhill lines, the park delivers an outstanding riding experience in the heart of Saxony.
