About Oberhof
Located in the heart of the Thuringian Forest in central Germany, Bikepark Oberhof is one of the country's largest and most versatile mountain biking destinations. Built on the slopes of the Fallbach hill in the famous winter sports town of Oberhof, the park has grown into a premier gravity riding venue featuring professionally built downhill trails, flowing family routes, jump lines, enduro tracks, and modern training facilities. With more than 10 kilometers of trails spread across 11 professionally maintained lines, Bikepark Oberhof welcomes everyone from complete beginners to experienced downhill racers. Originally developed with the support of local downhill riders from Thuringia, the bike park has undergone continuous expansion over the years. A major redevelopment introduced several new trails, a large landing bag, an upgraded pump track, and additional progression features, transforming Oberhof into one of Germany's most complete bike parks. Every season, the trail crew prepares and maintains the entire network to ensure excellent riding conditions throughout the summer months. Access to the mountain is provided by the Fallbach ski lift, which efficiently transports both riders and bikes to the summit. The lift allows visitors to complete numerous downhill laps throughout the day while enjoying panoramic views across the surrounding Thuringian Forest. Because of its efficient uplift system and compact layout, Bikepark Oberhof offers an ideal balance between long descents and minimal waiting times, making it popular for both day trips and weekend riding holidays. Beginners are welcomed with the excellent Family Flow Trail, one of the longest and most accessible trails in the park. Stretching for more than 2 kilometers, this flowing descent winds gently through the forest with wide berms, rollers, tabletops, shark fins, and smooth corners. The trail is divided into an easier blue section and a slightly more demanding red section, allowing riders to gradually increase the level of difficulty without leaving the trail. Families, younger riders, and first-time bike park visitors particularly appreciate its forgiving design and continuous flow. Intermediate riders have several outstanding options. The T-Wood Trail, one of the park's signature routes, combines flowing berms, waves, tabletops, doubles, and rhythm sections into an exciting descent that rewards smooth riding and consistent speed. Another favorite is the Wies'n Trail, which descends the former ski slope over approximately 800 meters and blends machine-built flow with natural terrain. Riders encounter jumps, wooden features, drops, and varied corner combinations that help develop technical confidence while maintaining excellent rhythm throughout the descent. Advanced riders are drawn to the legendary Fallbach Trail, one of the park's most demanding downhill tracks. Measuring approximately 900 meters, it features technical root sections, natural terrain, rock features, steep gradients, and numerous jumps designed to challenge experienced gravity riders. Developed together with local downhill specialists, the trail retains a rugged natural character while incorporating carefully shaped technical features that reward precise bike handling and aggressive riding. Freestyle enthusiasts will immediately notice the impressive Jumpline, which has become one of Oberhof's defining attractions. Extending for around 500 meters, the line features ten consecutive jump features, including tabletops, hips, shark fins, and flowing berms that allow riders to maintain rhythm while linking multiple jumps together. The carefully shaped transitions make it suitable for experienced riders looking to practice aerial skills while maintaining high speed from top to bottom. Natural trail riders are equally well served thanks to the extensive Enduro Trail network. Covering approximately 2.6 to 3 kilometers, these routes wind through dense forest, crossing roots, rocks, drops, and natural terrain while offering blue, red, and black difficulty options. Unlike the machine-built bike park lines, the enduro trails preserve the rugged character of the Thuringian Forest, providing a more traditional mountain biking experience that emphasizes technical riding and careful line selection. The park also places a strong emphasis on progression and skill development. Near the base station, visitors will find a large pump track covering around 800 square meters, where riders can improve balance, pumping technique, and cornering before tackling the mountain trails. Adjacent to the pump track is a professional landing bag featuring three different take-offs, allowing riders to safely practice jumps and tricks with confidence. These facilities have made Bikepark Oberhof a popular destination for coaching sessions and freestyle training. The surrounding Thuringian Forest provides a spectacular backdrop for every ride. Dense spruce forests, rolling mountain terrain, and cool summer temperatures create ideal riding conditions throughout the season. Riders often combine their bike park visit with the numerous cross-country and mountain bike routes surrounding Oberhof, which is widely regarded as one of Germany's premier outdoor sports destinations. Trail maintenance is carried out to an exceptionally high standard. Every year, all trails are freshly prepared before the season begins, while dedicated crews continuously maintain berms, jumps, wooden features, drainage systems, and technical sections throughout the summer. This commitment to quality ensures consistent riding conditions and has helped Bikepark Oberhof build an excellent reputation among German mountain bikers. Facilities throughout the park are comprehensive and rider-friendly. Visitors have access to modern downhill and enduro bike rentals, protective equipment, repair services, bike washing stations, parking, food and drink facilities, and professional coaching. Rental bikes are available for both adults and children, making the park accessible even for visitors who do not own gravity-specific equipment. The riding season generally runs from May through October, with regular opening from Thursday to Sunday and additional operating days during holiday periods. Throughout the summer, Bikepark Oberhof hosts coaching camps, community riding events, competitions, and demo days that continue to strengthen its reputation within the German mountain biking scene. Whether you're looking to experience your first flow trail, perfect your jumping technique, or tackle demanding natural downhill terrain, Bikepark Oberhof offers one of Germany's most complete and enjoyable mountain biking experiences.
