About BigFoot Works

Located within the forests of Sopot and Gda?sk in Poland's famous Tricity (Trjmiasto) region, Bikepark BigFoot Works is one of the country's most unique mountain biking destinations. Unlike traditional lift-served bike parks, BigFoot Works is a community-built trail center featuring an impressive network of natural singletracks designed for cross-country, trail, and enduro riding. Developed entirely through grassroots efforts, the park has become one of the largest urban mountain bike trail systems in Poland, offering around 18 kilometers of trails spread across 37 purpose-built singletracks within a compact forest area. What makes BigFoot Works truly special is its history. The project began in 2017, when a small group of passionate local riders started building sustainable mountain bike trails in the forests surrounding Sopot. Without government funding or commercial backing, the network gradually expanded through thousands of volunteer hours. Today, the trail system is managed by the Trjmiejskie ?cie?ki MTB Association, which continues to maintain and improve the infrastructure entirely through donations, sponsorships, and volunteer work. This community-driven approach has helped create one of Poland's most respected mountain biking projects. The trail network is spread across several distinct riding zones, including Bajkowe, Malinowe, Spacerowe, Zwierzyniec, Ambona, and Elektryczne. Each area offers its own collection of trails, allowing riders to experience different terrain and riding styles while remaining within a relatively small radius of approximately 1.5 kilometers. This compact layout makes it easy to link multiple trails into rides of varying length without spending excessive time on connecting roads. BigFoot Works focuses primarily on natural singletrack riding. Most trails range between 300 and 800 meters in length with approximately 40 to 60 meters of elevation change, making them ideal for repeated laps and technical practice. Instead of machine-built bike park features, riders encounter winding forest trails, exposed roots, natural rollers, technical corners, small drops, and carefully integrated jump features that blend naturally into the surrounding landscape. The result is an authentic riding experience that rewards precision, balance, and smooth bike handling. Beginners will find several easier trails graded within the park's own T1 and T2 difficulty scale. These routes feature moderate gradients, wider trail corridors, and minimal technical obstacles, providing an excellent introduction to off-road riding. Gentle rollers and small natural features help new riders develop confidence while learning basic mountain bike techniques such as braking, cornering, and body positioning. Because the park remains close to the city, it has become a popular place for local riders to discover mountain biking for the first time. Intermediate riders have the largest variety of trails available. Flowing woodland singletracks combine bermed corners, root sections, moderate jumps, natural terrain, and technical transitions that keep every descent engaging. Riders are encouraged to link multiple trails together, creating rides that continuously vary in difficulty while improving technical skills. Many trails include optional "chicken lines" around more advanced jump features, allowing cyclists to progress safely at their own pace. Experienced riders will appreciate the park's more technical enduro-style trails. Narrow trail corridors, steep root-covered descents, off-camber sections, technical switchbacks, and larger jump features demand confident bike handling and careful line selection. Because many of the trails are built on natural forest terrain, riding conditions change with the weather, providing a fresh challenge throughout the year. One of BigFoot Works' defining characteristics is its year-round rideability. The well-designed drainage system and regular maintenance allow many trails to remain open during all seasons, making the park a popular training location even during the colder months. Local volunteers continually repair erosion, improve drainage, rebuild jumps, and remove storm damage to ensure the network remains in excellent condition. The park also features the small Belfer Skills Park, where riders can practice balance, cornering, jumps, and technical maneuvers before heading onto the forest trails. Although compact, the skills area provides an excellent environment for warming up or improving specific techniques. Riders often use it before exploring the larger trail network. Unlike commercial bike parks, BigFoot Works is completely free to use. Visitors are encouraged to support the project through voluntary donations, helping fund trail maintenance, equipment, insurance, and future trail development. This community-supported model has allowed the park to continue growing while preserving its welcoming atmosphere and high trail standards. The surrounding Tricity forests provide an outstanding setting for mountain biking. Dense pine and mixed woodland, rolling glacial terrain, and sandy forest soils create surprisingly varied riding despite the area's relatively low elevation. Riders often combine BigFoot Works with nearby coastal attractions, beaches, cafs, and cycling routes around Gda?sk, Sopot, and Gdynia, making it an excellent destination for both local riders and visitors exploring northern Poland. Facilities around the park include multiple parking areas, clearly marked trailheads, interactive maps, and convenient access from nearby residential neighborhoods. Since the trail system is spread across public forest land, riders can easily start from different entry points depending on which group of trails they wish to explore. The riding community remains one of BigFoot Works' greatest strengths. Regular trail-building days, coaching sessions, social rides, and volunteer maintenance events have created a welcoming atmosphere where newcomers and experienced riders alike can enjoy the sport together. The continued success of the project demonstrates how passionate local communities can build and maintain high-quality mountain biking infrastructure without relying on commercial development. Whether you're looking to improve your trail riding skills, enjoy technical enduro-style singletrack, or experience one of Poland's finest community-built trail systems, Bikepark BigFoot Works offers an unforgettable mountain biking experience. Its combination of natural forest trails, outstanding volunteer maintenance, progressive trail design, and vibrant local community has firmly established it as one of the premier mountain biking destinations in northern Poland.
